Brewferm Tarwebier - racking 16/10/2010
I took a final specific gravity reading this morning and this brew seems to have finished on 1.008. With an origninal gravity of 1.052 this gives this brew an abv of 5.8%. Having taken advise from fellow brewers in The Home Brew Forum site, I followed the instructions and transferred (syphoned) the beer to a second fermentation vessel (FV), dissolved another 150g white sugar in some boiling water then mixed this with the beer in the second FV until mixed. This process was recommended in the instructions and is in place of priming each of the bottles with the correct amount of sugar. For this beer I used different sized bottles so this method made sure i didn't have to calculate the amount of sugar needed for say a 330ml bottle. Racked the beer in bottles and capped. All done and dusted in 90 minutes (some distractions slowed me down a little - it's always the way!).
I transferred the bottles back to a warmish place and they'll stay there for 5 days before moving to a cooler storage. *
