Saltaire Brewery Beer Club 27/11/2010
Popped down to the Saltaire Brewery beer club last night... I say popped down but I fully intended to make the most if it. I haven't been to this event before but I understand they have been running them for over a year. There is a visitors centre which has a bar and seating area, but this area just isn't big enough to meet demand so the crowds spill down into the 'shop floor' below. There was a buzz about the place and it was pleasing to see such a mix of people all enjoying some Real Ale. ALthough I had to smile when I heard one lady remarked "I don't like Real Ale, what else are you serving", little did she know that she was being served by Tony Gartland (Head Brewer). He offered tasters of each beer which were declined but he stayed professional and served a J20.
Another pleasant surprise was the choice of beers on offer and I was determined to try them all (but failed). Starting with the Winter Ale and working my way through pints of Harvest Moon, Cascade Pale Ale, Elderflower Blonde and the Saltaire Blonde. The others, that I'll be trying next time, were the Cascadian Black, Raspberry Blonde and Cheeky Kriek. As if I wasn't already spoilt for choice they were also serving Hophead by the Dark Star Brewing Company, but it didn't last long and I missed out!
All in all a top night and I'll be heading back on 17th December.
